A dry-hire wedding bar team that drives from La Jolla to Chula Vista, carries California ABC compliance, and knows which Scripps Seaside Forum load-in works on a Saturday. Mixologists on the sand, not caterers upcharging you per pour.
San Diego wedding bar logistics are not Los Angeles logistics with better weather. The city has one of the strictest glass-on-the-beach bans in California, two separate state park systems that both demand their own alcohol permit, and a resort market where half the oceanfront properties operate on an exclusive in-house bar. On top of that, a serious share of local weddings happen on bluffs with onshore wind at 15 to 20 knots — a different glassware problem than a sheltered Napa patio. We built our San Diego operation around those three facts.
The glass ban is the first thing to design around. Any wedding on a San Diego city beach — Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla Shores — is governed by Municipal Code section 56.54, which prohibits glass containers on the sand. We bring crystal-look acrylic stemware for toasts and footed polycarbonate rocks glasses for everything else, so the ceremony table does not look plastic. For bluff weddings and private-estate oceanfront (Sunset Cliffs residential, Point Loma, La Jolla Farms) we go back to real glassware because the ban stops at the sand line.
The permit layer is the second. If your venue is a state park (Torrey Pines State Beach, Cardiff State Beach, Silver Strand), you file with California State Parks. If it is a city park or beach (Scripps Park in La Jolla, Powerhouse Park in Del Mar, Spanish Landing), you file with San Diego Park & Recreation. The two forms look identical and are completely different offices. We tell couples which one applies before they sign the venue contract, and we help file both.
Then the resort math. A hosted bar at a La Jolla or Coronado oceanfront resort typically quotes $75 to $110 per guest. Our dry-hire model — you buy the alcohol at retail in your name, we bring everything else — lands most 120-guest San Diego weddings between $18 and $30 per guest, all in. Same drinks, same mixologists, same crystal. The difference is a resort beverage markup you aren't paying.
We work the outside-vendor-friendly properties and the private estates that handle most of San Diego County's wedding calendar — the ones that accept our compliance paperwork without a follow-up phone call.
Three all-inclusive tiers. Each one covers the mobile bar, premium mixers, glassware (acrylic on sand, crystal on bluff), the ice program, fresh-cut garnish, a printed cocktail menu, RBS-certified bartenders, and complete setup and breakdown. The alcohol is the only line you buy separately — at retail, in your name — which is why this costs less than a resort's in-house package.
Travel inside San Diego County is included in every wedding quote. These are the neighborhoods most of our San Diego calendar runs through:
Every San Diego wedding booking is a full-service bar catering engagement — no "bartender only" rentals, no equipment surcharges disclosed on the day. The number on your quote is the number on your invoice.
Yes. We work Windansea, La Jolla Shores, Powerhouse Park in Del Mar, and the private coves off Sunset Cliffs. California State Parks and most San Diego city beaches require a permit from the Park & Recreation Department (typically 60 days ahead) and all public beaches in the city of San Diego ban glass. We adjust the glassware program to acrylic for beach events and help file the permit.
We do outside-vendor work at Coronado properties that permit it (private beachfront estates, residential clubs, Loews Coronado Bay on their outside-caterer approved list). The main Hotel del and most big-brand resorts operate on an exclusive in-house bar — if that is your venue, we usually serve the rehearsal dinner, welcome party or farewell brunch at a nearby property instead.
A hosted-bar package at a La Jolla or Coronado resort typically quotes $75–$110 per guest. Our four packages ($795 / $1,495 / $2,795) plus retail alcohol usually land a 120-guest San Diego wedding between $18 and $30 per guest, all in. Travel inside San Diego County is included in the quote.
Our base is in Los Angeles — San Diego weddings are a 2 to 2.5 hour drive each way. Travel inside San Diego County is included in the three published packages. For weddings south of Chula Vista or east of El Cajon we may add a modest travel line, always disclosed in the quote, never added later.
Yes. We carry California ABC compliance and California ABC compliance. The compliance paperwork is issued in the venue's name on request and sent the same business day. We have been pre-approved at Scripps Seaside Forum, L'Auberge Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe private estates, and most La Jolla and Point Loma residential clubs.
Tell us the venue and the guest count and you will have a real price the same day — not a brochure, not a callback next week.
