Norwalk runs on a school calendar as much as a wedding calendar. Between May and July our phone here is mostly graduation parties — Cerritos College, the high schools, the family that has two graduations in the same month and merges them into one afternoon for a hundred and seventy people. Those events behave differently than weddings and we plan them differently: guests arrive across hours rather than at once, the bar has to stay good for six hours, and the zero-proof list gets a real workout.
The rest of the year is weddings, quinceañeras, anniversaries and 50th birthdays, mostly in backyards through the neighborhoods off Rosecrans and Pioneer, with reception halls and church halls covering the larger formal events. We bring the entire bar: the structure itself, glassware, ice, mixers, fresh garnish, printed menus and licensed bartenders. There is nothing for you to rent and nothing for you to pick up the morning of.
One thing worth knowing about Norwalk backyards: many of the lots here are long and narrow, which is actually an advantage. Putting the bar at the far end from the food keeps the two lines from tangling and spreads guests across the whole yard instead of bunching them near the kitchen door. We will suggest a placement when you send us a photo of the space, and it costs nothing to move the plan around before the day.
