Mobile bar, bartender-only, or the caterer's bar?

Quick answerBartender-only is cheapest and fits a venue with a built-in bar. A caterer's bar package is most expensive because alcohol markup is built into the per-person price. A full mobile bar like La Barra Co. fits when there is no bar at the venue and you want everything handled, with the alcohol bought at retail by you. A bar-cart rental alone in LA runs $350–$600 a day.

The full answer

Bartender-only is the cheapest line item: you rent or own the bar, buy everything, and pay for labor. It makes sense if your venue already has a built-in bar and you just need someone behind it.

A caterer's bar package is the most expensive, because the alcohol comes with markup built into the per-person price, and you usually cannot see what that markup is.

A full mobile bar like ours sits in between, and it is the right fit when there is no bar at the venue — a backyard, an Airbnb, a warehouse, a park, an estate — and you want the whole thing handled: bar, equipment, ice, glassware, menu design, service and cleanup, with the alcohol bought at retail by you.

The real comparison isn't the headline price, it is what sits inside it. A bar-cart rental alone in LA runs about $350 to $600 a day, and that is just the cart.
